Queer positive yoga is an all inclusive community class that is an energizing vinyasa flow with pranayama that takes time to guide you through the asana transitions and help you find the way the asana best fits your body.
A community yoga class held at Three Trees Yoga to help you connect more deeply with your breath, lean into advanced poses, and grow your practice.
Trauma-Sensitive Yoga is a gentle, choice-based practice designed to support safety, empowerment, and healing. Rather than focusing on performance or achieving a “perfect” pose, this approach emphasizes mindful movement, breath awareness, and self-agency. Participants are invited to notice what feels supportive in their bodies and choose what movements work best for them. The goal is not to fix or change, but to reconnect with the body in a safe and compassionate way.
Yoga unites the mind, body, and soul in a way that eases tension and promotes health. Regular practice improves breathing, increases endurance for other activities, and promotes mindfulness. Take a break from your day. Focus on yourself and find clarity.
For years I struggled with my identity and feelings of not being accepted fully as myself, I often felt as though I don't fit in anywhere. Yoga was the only place I truly felt I could just "be," with no biases, no pressures, and a space to heal inside and out fully. I have been practicing for over 10 years and teaching for two now, and I truly believe in the intersectionality of yoga and queerness.
The intersectionality of masculine and feminine is so deeply rooted in the yoga teachings dating back to over 4k years ago. Hijras, the 3rd gender, were not only mentioned throughout ancient literature; they were sought after for their wisdom and blessings! They were considered a testament to the sexual diversity that is integral yet often forgotten in Indian culture.
Yoga in its purest form is a positive and transformative practice for our queer community, enabling us to deeply embody and transcend the self. Encouraging connection between mind and body is a gift, especially when feeling estranged from (or betrayed by) our bodies can be a reality for some of us. The things I find fascinating about yoga – the fluidity, creativity, playfulness, intention, groundedness, spiritual connection, and being able to live authentically as your true self – are also what I love about being queer.
